Academics

Overview

All students focus on the subjects of math, language arts, religion, social studies, and science.

Our Catholic Journey

The Kindergarten through 8th grade experience at Saint Ambrose of Woodbury offers students the opportunity to grow spiritually, academically and socially in a positive environment focused on meeting the needs of all learners. Our teachers strive to foster strong , positive relationships with students to support them and challenge them to be the best they can be. The scope and sequence of our academic program coupled with our welcoming community set the stage for developmental success for our students in grades K-8.

Elementary School

In our elementary program, teachers work to build a positive classroom community where students know they belong, and where they know their students as learners. Students are given the tools to take ownership of their learning and to explore their intellectual curiosity while building stamina for learning. The elementary academic program focuses on student growth. In grades K-5 our goal is that every student is able to grow through varied instructional techniques including Differentiated Instruction which focuses on meeting the needs of all learners by challenging students at their just-right level.

Junior High School

Our junior high program focuses on guiding students toward incrementally increasing independence as a learner. Students in these grades are encouraged to make real-life connections to their learning, to show what they know in a variety of ways and to work with others collaboratively to create quality products. Students in grades 6-8 are taught to advocate for themselves as learners, to articulate when they need help and to understand what they need to be successful. Our supportive team of teachers establish high academic standards in a positive, helpful environment.
